Research findings can inform practice and help create and change policy for the benefit of patient outcomes and quality of care. We view research translation and application of findings to patient care as essential.

Factors that facilitate success in medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder
This network level research within the WVACHS is designed to learn what factors help people get into and stay in medication-assisted treatment programs in WV. Our approach to answering these questions is to learn directly from individuals in treatment and recovery. Martha Carter, DHSc, MBA, APRN, CNM, Jennifer Boyd, PA-C, and Adam Baus, PhD, are co-investigators of this effort.

Bringing primary care to residents at a senior housing apartment complex
This research is designed to evaluate the impact of routine patient visits to residents of a senior housing apartment complex in south-central WV. Sarah Hansen, APRN, AGNP-BC, is principal investigator of this effort.

Patient transportation study
This research is designed to better understand and address patient transportation barriers in southern WV. Joanna Bailey, MD, is principal investigator of this effort.

Hospital discharge data quality and utility to primary care
This research is designed to better understand the makeup and delivery of hospital discharge documentation to primary care clinicians. Mary Ann Maurer, DO, is principal investigator of this effort.
